The 14th National High-Level Forum for Chairs of English Departments, themed on “We and Future”, explored the innovation of English programs in the context of new liberal arts, the interdisciplinary development of foreign language programs, and the innovation of foreign language smart education and teaching. At the forum, participants exchanged ideas and insights in depth. Drs. Han Chao, Hu Shen’ai, Shen Anni and Lu Xiaolei from CLFC discussed interdisciplinary collaborative innovation in their respective research fields and explored new paths of foreign language research and teaching.

The four young CFLC faculty members shared their thoughts, achievements and experiences in interdisciplinary collaborative innovation in the foreign language discipline in the light of CFLC’s achievements in recent years. Focused on interdisciplinary collaborative innovation, they explored new paths for foreign language research and teaching. Dr. Han Chao reviewed XMU’s experience accumulated in interpretation assessment and the results of interdisciplinary development in the teaching and research system in recent years. Dr. Hu Shen’ai presented a typical case of interdisciplinary research in linguistics, affirming the positive effect of interdisciplinary collaborative development on the improvement of teachers’ ability and students’ literacy development. Dr. Shen Anni shared her vision for future interdisciplinary development in the light of the tradition and innovation of foreign literature at Xiamen University, emphasizing that interdisciplinary development should take into account the feasibility of innovative models and the inherent humanistic attributes of foreign language disciplines. Dr. Lu Xiaolei gave an in-depth analysis of interdisciplinary teamwork and teaching-research linkage, and shared the progress and gains of teaching-research linkage in her teaching experience.
