From June 27 to July 3, a group of 27 CFLC students organized an English-language summer camp for 60 fourth- and fifth-graders at the local Seaside Elementary School. Events at the camp included talks on various topics and interesting games.
The CFLC students divided in the camp participants into two groups and designed a good variety of games to fire the imagination and catalyze curiosity of the schoolchildren and to inspire their passion for the learning of English.
On the first day of the summer camp, the schoolchildren took part in various fascinating games through which they learned a lot of English knowledge.
On the second day, they heard many inspirational stories intended to motivate and activate them to be their best and change the world.
On the third day, they attended a series of talks on ordinary people who had made extraordinary contributions to society.
On the fourth day, they attended presentations on new jobs such as hotel test sleepers and dessert tasters, which fired up their imagination for the business world.
Over the following few years, the schoolchildren learned English words by making plasticine figures of police officers on duty, calligraphers with brushes in hand, and teachers wearing glasses. Under the guidance of the CFLC students, the schoolchildren told short stories in English about the future and their dreams.
On the last day, the schoolchildren had spelling bee games, which provided some fantastic spelling practice. The competitive nature of these games encouraged the kids to study hard and work together to produce a winning strategy.
The summer camp closed on the afternoon of July 3. The school’s headmaster, Chen Junqiang, expressed his appreciation the CFLC students for organizing the game-infused summer camp.
